We recently designed and produced a set of custom 3D-printed NFC business cards for The Garden Annex, our Airbnb accommodation. The aim was to turn the existing branding into a useful physical card with built-in digital functionality.
The finished cards combine a black printed base with raised gold-coloured artwork, including The Garden Annex building illustration, name and surrounding line details.
Turning The Garden Annex branding into a printed card
The starting point was the existing Garden Annex logo. We adapted the artwork so the building outline, windows, lettering and finer details could be reproduced clearly as part of the printed surface.
Rather than applying a conventional flat print, the contrasting artwork is incorporated into the 3D-printed card. This gives the logo a tactile finish while keeping the design consistent across the batch.
Adding NFC to a physical business card
The NFC element connects the physical card to a chosen digital destination. When a compatible phone is held near the card, it can direct the user to useful online information without requiring them to manually type a web address.
Depending on the project, an NFC card could be configured for a website, booking page, contact details, review page or social profile. For guest accommodation, this creates a simple way to connect visitors with the relevant digital information while keeping the physical item fully branded.
Why 3D printing suited the design
3D printing allowed us to produce the custom card shape, two-colour branding and raised details directly from a digital design. The artwork can be adjusted for a different logo, layout or message without needing to redesign an entire conventional print process.
This makes the process useful for branded batches, promotional items and businesses that want something more distinctive than a standard paper card.

The same approach can be adapted for workshops, trades, accommodation providers, events, retail businesses and other organisations. Colours and front artwork can be changed to suit the brand, while the NFC function provides the connection to the chosen online destination.
